Confidence In Chaos | Psalm 46

Jeff Willis

Title: Confidence In Chaos

Text: Psalms 46

Outline:

I.       HIS PROTECTION BRINGS COURAGE (vv 1-3)

II.      HIS PRESENCE BRINGS GLADNESS (vv 4-6)

III.     HIS POSITION ALLOWS REST (vv 7-10)

IV.     HIS PROMISED REFRAIN (vv 7, 11)

Application Questions:

1. What stood out to you personally throughout this Psalm?

2. When you feel like your world is collapsing, where do you run? God is not a last resort. He is the first shelter.  Let Psalm 46:1 be the verse you repeat when the storm hits. Write this verse out and pray it out loud.

3. We often look for peace, joy and gladness in changed circumstances. But God gives peace, joy and gladness through His presence. What can you surrender to Him today?

4. Being still is not passivity; it’s surrender to the One who actually has control.  What are you holding onto too tightly right now? What would it look like to “be still” and find rest in Him in this season?

5.  How can you be an encouragement to someone who needs to hear these truths?  Will you be the hands and feet of Jesus to them and point them to God as our refuge and strength?
